Stress is the condition of psychophysiological pressure arising when person is under the influence of any strong influences and accompanied by mobilization of protective systems of the organism and mentality. The word “stress” appeared in the world into 1936 by the Canadian physiologist G.Sele. Sele considers that stress as the integral attribute of ability to live. The person can’t functioning proper, if on its sense organs influence the sufficient number of corresponding irritants. In this case the organism reacts as stress which plays stimulating and positive role. But on the other hand, irritants of the raised intensity or arising in excessive quantity can cause somatic disease, deformations of mentality and even death.
Ability to react to intensive external irritants is defined by individually-psychological features of the concrete person: the psychophysiological constitution, sensitivity to influences, features of motivational and emotionally-strong-willed sphere. So that external influences didn’t cause stress, it is necessary such formation of qualities, as self-control, discipline, aspiration to overcoming of obstacles. Thus, the stress is a tension of an organism, the nonspecific answer of an organism to the stressful situation. Under the influence of stress the human body tests stressful pressure.
Among signs of stress are impossibility to concentrate, frequent errors in work, memory impairment, frequent occurrence of feeling of weariness, a fluent speech, thoughts often disappear, often enough there are pains, hypererethism, work doesn’t give pleasure, loss of sense of humour, sharp increase of quantity of smoked cigaretts, predilection for alcoholic drinks, constant sensation of undereating or appetite loss, impossibility in time to finish work.
As the stress symptoms has arisen mainly from perception of threat its occurrence in a certain situation can arise for the subjective reasons, connected with features of the person. Those or other conditions cause an emotional pressure as a result of discrepancy to these conditions of the emotional mechanism of the individual. The anxiety is a sensation of uncertain threat, it is the most strongly working mechanism of mental stress. The anxiety can play a guarding and motivational role. But if it isn’t adequate to a situation it interferes with adaptation. Thus, the anxiety underlies any changes of mental condition and the behavior.
Stress can be treated mostly by relaxation, and good perception of the world and environment, change of scenery, start of any new activity and in the most complicated cases consultation of the doctor is necessary.
